Area School Districts
First West enjoys partnerships with all area schools. We engage in character education and support our teachers and their students. Our area school systems know they have a friend in First West.
EDGE Sports (Education + Determination + God = Excellence)
EDGE Sports is a Christ-centered sports ministry developed by First West to "Build Christian Values through Competitive Sports." EDGE Sports, in its 11th year, continues to help kids and parents understand the balance between competition and character.
EDGE Basketball
EDGE Basketball announced a new format from youth basketball development- Drill for Skill. Players work with High School Coaches and players to increase fundamentals while receiving Christian Core Values from dedicated chaplains.
EDGE Golf
EDGE Golf offers three youth programs to teach fundamentals of the game of golf and core Christian values. These programs are taught in the state-of-the-art Jeffrey C. Myers Trackman Simulator room in the basement of the church.
POGO
For the last 28 years, the Presbyterian Open Golf Outing or POGO, has provided an excellent time of fellowship for area churches and our community. The golf scramble takes place each year on the first Monday of August at Spring Hills Golf Club in East Springfield, OH. Volunteers from First West make delicious food, many prizes are given away, and money raised supports the Cancer Dietary Initiative and the Edge Junior Golf Academy. POGO will take place on August 4th, 2025. For more information or to register a team, call the First West church office at (740) 282-4691.
First West Car Cruise In
Each Year on the last Saturday of August, First West hosts a “Hot Rod Saturday” as a mission outreach to area car enthusiasts. We welcome 140 plus cruisers and their families to enjoy an awesome afternoon at the church. A special thank you to the City of Steubenville for closing 4th street from North St. to Washington St. to accommodate all the vehicles. We want to thank our community outreach team for providing top-notch hospitality, great food and plenty of meaningful relationship building.
Souls for Christ
First West provides shoes for kids through the Souls for Christ mission. Teachers/staff from area schools identify kids who need help. They contact First West and First West meets the need. These shoes represent the love of God in these children’s lives.
Badge Buddies
First West created Badge Buddies whose mission is “Building Bridges between Law Enforcement and Youth.” Badge Buddies partners with school systems to foster four core values of trust, respect, education and communication between 3rd grade students and police officers.
